How do I send images for the Digital Survey?
After purchase, we’ll send you a simple upload link via email. You can add photos, videos, and any notes. We recommend natural daylight and close-up shots of any key details (frames, glazing bars, damage, etc.).

What is an On-Site Heritage Window Survey?
This service (from £820+VAT) is for larger or more complex properties; typically those with 15+ windows or listed status. We visit your site, inspect all windows, doors, or shutters in person, and compile a comprehensive report with photography, restoration recommendations, and planning-grade documentation.
What’s included in a Digital Heritage Window Survey?
Our Digital Survey service (£250) is designed for smaller projects or remote assessments. You send us clear photographs or video footage of your windows or doors, and we review them to identify original joinery, glazing, and fittings. You’ll receive a professional report within 72 hours detailing the condition, restoration potential, and suitability for planning purposes.

Do you restore or install windows too?
While Heritage Window Consultants provides expert surveys and reports, all restoration or installation works are carried out by The Barnsbury Joinery Group, our trusted sister company with over 40 years of experience in period joinery. If needed, we’ll refer you directly.
What is a Restoration Report and when would I need one?
Our Restoration Report (£680) provides a detailed assessment of up to 10 heritage features; typically windows, doors, and internal shutters. It’s ideal for use in planning applications, heritage statements, or to guide contractors during a restoration project. It clearly shows what can be saved and what needs replacement.

Can your reports be used for planning applications?
Yes. All our survey and restoration reports are written to be suitable for submission as part of planning applications or listed building consent. We use plain language and visual documentation to support planners, heritage officers, and conservation architects.
What is included in your Conservation Area Guidance service?
If your property is in a Conservation Area and you’re unsure what changes are permitted, we’ll review your local council’s guidelines, appraisals, and your proposed works. We’ll then provide written advice on design, materials, or permissions helping you avoid delays or breaches.

Do you cover commercial buildings or just residential?
We work with a wide range of clients, including private homeowners, architects, property developers, managing agents, and commercial landlords. Whether it’s a single listed flat or a large-scale site survey of 2000+ windows, we tailor our service accordingly.
How long does it take to receive my report?
- Digital Surveys: Within 72 hours of receiving imagery

- On-Site Surveys: Typically within 5–10 working days, depending on scope

- Restoration Reports: Delivered within 7 working days of the site visit

Do you offer site visits nationwide?
